Populous Named Largest Design Practice for Convention Centers and Sports by Building Design + Construction Magazine

Building Design + Construction has released its annual rankings of design and construction firms who generated the most revenue in 2012. The Giants 300 report provides an overall ranking for top architecture firms based on revenue, as well as individual rankings by project type. Populous is ranked first among convention center architecture firms and first among sports facilities architects.  The firm is also ranked 9th overall on the list for the second year in a row.

“Populous has had an important year, from the opening of the extension of Qatar National Convention Centre to Marlins Park to the London 2012 Olympic Main Stadium,” explains Todd Voth, Senior Principal at Populous. “As a firm, we have seen tremendous success with both convention center and sports facility design over the past 30 years and hope to continue to grow our practice to provide designs and experiences that are representative of our unique expertise- drawing people together for incredible experiences.”

Populous’ convention center practice, led by Voth, is currently working on high-profile renovations and new convention centers across the globe, including the Oklahoma City Convention Center, Los Angeles Convention Center, San Antonio Convention Center and Sydney International Convention Center. In addition, renovations to San Jose’s McEnery Convention Center will be completed in the fall of 2013.

Populous’ sports practice is currently working projects on nearly every continent, including the Amphitheatre Multifonctionnel de Quebec, large-scale renovations to Ralph Wilson Stadium and EverBank Field, Estadio de Futbol Monterrey, Baylor Stadium, the WestWorld of Scottsdale Equestrian Center, the Sochi 2014 Olympic Main Stadium, Oklahoma State Fair Park, El Paso Ballpark, Las Vegas Arena and the redevelopment of Kyle Field at Texas A&M, the single largest collegiate athletics project in history.
