Bridgestone Arena: The Story of the ‘Anchor’ of Downtown Nashville

The Tennessean’s Keel Hunt wrote recently about the 19-year-old Bridgestone Arena, designed by Populous, and the story of how the facility became a catalyst for development and anchor for Music City. A “key to downtown revival,” Phil Bredsen, former mayor of Nashville, notes that “that arena was always designed to be the anchor around which we were going to rebuild the downtown environment.” Read the full story about Nashville’s revival and Bridgestone Arena’s role here. Populous-designed First Tennessee Park, also in Nashville, will open April 17th, and is expected to do for the district North of the city “what Bridgestone Arena did for Broadway.”
