SMH: Margaret Court Arena aces LEED sustainability certification

Margaret Court Arena has achieved a major international standard for sustainability.

The Melbourne venue is the first sport and entertainment arena in Australia to receive a LEED Gold certification.

The LEED rating system, developed by the US Green Building Council, covers buildings, homes and communities that are designed, built, maintained and operated to a high environmental performance.
Margaret Court Arena, which was designed and built by Lend Lease, achieved high performance in sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency and materials selection.
The arena was a joint venture between NH Architecture and Populous, while Lend Lease was the managing contractor and builder.
