Ben Connolly

  • Architectural Assistant
  • London

Ben earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies in Architecture before accepting a full scholarship to Carleton University to complete his professional Master of Architecture.

His thesis focused on the synthesis of advanced generative and parametric modelling techniques with vernacular placemaking methods; this project was awarded the school’s top technical prize and selected for publication in its annual review. Interspersed with his studies, Ben also attended an exchange to Helsinki, Finland and worked for two years in Toronto, Ottawa and the Canadian arctic. He joined Populous in 2016 and is currently part of the design team for the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at White Hart Lane.

Ben is particularly interested in the process of addressing complex architectural design problems using a vast array of advanced digital design techniques. In the design of high-capacity stadium projects, he is fascinated with the identity a team can instil within its supporters and how that essence of camaraderie can be translated into clear architectural intentions of place, gathering, and belonging. Beyond architecture, Ben is also an accomplished ice hockey referee.
