Charles has more than 35 years of experience in the design, programming and master planning of mass attendance facilities including fairs, exposition centers and multi-purpose arenas in 50 states and 23 countries. He has participated in the master planning and design of two World’s Fairs and two Olympic venue master plans.
As a Senior Principal Charles maintains strong client relationships through his regular attendance at conferences and presentations on topics related to master planning and design at meetings and conventions of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions, the Canadian Association of Expositions, NALSRMA, IAAM, CFE, FFE, RASC, ULI and other trade organizations. In 2008 Charles was elected to the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) Board of Directors for a two-year term.
In 2010 Charles opened his first project since joining Populous with the completion of the 7,000-seat North Dakota State Fair Grandstands project in Minot. In 2011 he celebrated the opening of the Mallet Event Center and Arena in Levelland, Texas.
