Jonathan Mallie

For over two decades, Jonathan has pushed the boundaries of design while consistently leveraging cutting-edge design technologies. At Populous, Jonathan has been instrumental in coordinating the firm’s global design efforts across each of the firm’s regions. His forward-facing thinking and fresh voice has enabled him to cultivate long-lasting client relationships and build strong relationships with his colleagues and peers.

Serving as a principal-in-charge and design lead for his projects, Jonathan has met the challenges inherent in a wide range of project types, including sports and entertainment venues located across the U.S., as well as commercial, residential, academic, and mixed-use complexes in New York, Miami, Kenya, Singapore and India. He has worked with the leaders and project teams of clients such as Forest City Ratner Companies, Tishman Speyer, The Brooklyn Nets, The Cleveland Cavaliers, the Government of Kenya and Google. He has also collaborated with innovators in the field of software, technology and manufacturing such as Dassault Systems, Boeing and Tesla. In 2013, Jonathan was honored as one of ENR’s Top 25 Newsmakers for his work on the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Most recently, he was recognized as a Power Player in Design and Development by the Sports Business Journal.

As a native New Yorker, Jonathan leads the firm’s east coast presence, applying his design sensibilities across Populous’ MLS, NFL, training facility, and performance venue projects for several event types, including concerts, esports and live events. Jonathan led Populous’ design efforts on the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Grandstand Theatre, Daily’s Place Amphitheatre and Training Facility in Jacksonville, Florida, FC Cincinnati’s West End Stadium, the Carolina Panthers’ Sports Performance Center, and is currently leading the design on a state-of-the-art performance venue and hotel development in Toronto, Canada.

Jonathan is the leader of Populous’ New York and Boston offices, serves as a Director on Populous’ Global Board, sits on the company’s Americas Regional Board and engages with the company’s Strategic Initiatives Committee. Jonathan has taught design at multiple universities, including Columbia University, the University of Florida, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and the Miami University of Ohio. Considered a thought leader in the field, Jonathan has lectured extensively and has contributed to numerous publications that focus on the architect’s ability to maintain design control through process innovation.
