Saskatchewan Roughriders Training Facility

Challenge. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are one of the oldest professional gridiron football teams in existence. Steeped in more than a century of history, the franchise came to Populous with a challenge: create a highly-functional football operations center which helps players, coaches and staff maximize their potential.

Innovation. The two-level, 48,000-square-feet training facility includes thoughtfully-crafted space for all types of activity, resulting in a year-round home for the Roughriders:

  • Locker rooms
  • Training and fitness spaces
  • Medical and therapy areas
  • Coaches’ offices
  • Meeting rooms
  • Flagship retail store

We wove together the club’s legacy and greatest athletes throughout using a thematic design. Each player position meeting room, for example, features a Roughriders legend, bringing the past, present and future together in one inspirational environment. Altogether, the branding celebrates the Roughriders’ achievements and connection to the community while leaving a lasting impression on free agents.

Impact.

“To say people have been blown away is a massive understatement. Nothing was overlooked, nothing was not thought of. It will be an amazing differentiator for our organization for decades. And for that, we can’t thank you and your organization enough.”

– Craig Reynolds, Saskatchewan Roughriders president and chief executive officer

“Even coaches who have nothing to do with our organization already know all about our facility just because of word of mouth. It’s the envy of the league now. Everyone’s going to compare their facilities to what we have.”

– Jeremy O’Day, Saskatchewan Roughriders assistant vice president of football operations and administration
