Nestled in the heart of Wildcat Country and sitting just to the north of campus, the University of New Hampshire’s Cowell Stadium has been the home of Wildcat football for the better part of a century. The expansion of the facility will soon provide fans with a festive and inviting gameday experience.
Chief among the improvements are two dedicated gathering spaces: a main entry plaza welcoming tailgaters from the north and a Cat Pack plaza that rallies students as they approach from the south. The main entry plaza will act as a new campus gateway and greet commuters along Main Street, the backbone of university activity.
After entering the main plaza, an elevated boardwalk to the right will provide access to a grass berm for comfortable lawn seating or a spontaneous game of catch before connecting to the new west sideline stadium concourse by way of bridge.
The project will more than double the stadium’s current capacity to approximately 11,000 and stay true to campus architecture with intricate brick patterns and pitched roofs. Other expansion features include:
- HD video board and sound system
- Restrooms and concessions serving regional food and beverages
- Club space overlooking the playing field to the east and College Woods Natural Area to the west. Two outdoor patios adjoin the space and will offer a flexible premium experience with fantastic views.
- Press box with coaches booths, a public address and sound room and dedicated camera platforms
