Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave

Populous is proud to have partnered with the Government of Gujarat to develop the masterplan and concept design for the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave in Ahmedabad. This enclave is being considered as one of the potential event hubs for India’s bid for the 2036 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Ahmedabad is positioning itself as the leading Indian contender to host the 2036 Games. Inspired by this targeted event, the city's Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has crafted a 20-year masterplan featuring strategically located sport venue clusters.

Our India and Brisbane offices have been contracted to support Ahmedabad, a significant development given Brisbane's own preparation to host the 2032 Olympics. The IOC’s Agenda 2020+5 framework encourages cities to utilize existing venues where possible and supplement with temporary venues when necessary. However, the framework also allows for venues that have already been planned for construction.
