Populous-Designed Videotron Centre in Quebec City Opens Its Doors

Quebec City is now home to a state-of-the-art, $400 million arena. The building, which Sports Illustrated called “stunning,”  expresses the elements the region is known for – snow, ice and an active outdoor culture year-round – through design. The design team made use of warm materials inside – including rich wood, fireplaces, ambient lighting and natural walnut – contrasting it with the clean white panels on the building’s exterior and elements that speak to snow drifts and glaciers inside and out. The arena is designed to seat 18,100 and has a Canadian-style seating bowl, with a more steeper and intimate experience than you traditionally see in the NHL.
