August 19, 2015

On Sunday, Pittsburgh Steelers fans will get to experience Heinz Field like they never have before. The South Plaza redevelopment will open and create nearly 360 degree connectivity throughout the stadium while adding brand new social experiences for fans. The Populous design team, responsible for the original design of Heinz Field, raised the South Plaza to connect it with the existing main concourse, creating space for a new club located very close to the playing field. The Champions Club sits under the new South Plaza concourse and will host an added capacity of 1,073 new club seats. The bar within has exclusive views into the player entry tunnel so fans feel like they are part of the action. Coupled with a cigar bar inspired by the legacy of “The Chief, Art Rooney Sr.; action stations for display cooking; an outdoor patio that feels within reach of the goalposts; and the Champions Club, which will be one of the most unique premium hospitality spaces in the NFL.

Technology and a unique material palette help the Steelers tell their story – a story rooted in tradition and a powerful legacy of championships. The Champions Club makes use of warm materials, including painted steel, rich wood and dynamic lighting fixtures to communicate the Steelers brand, while bold graphics and branding pay tribute to the organization’s greats. Technology creates flexibility so the spaces can be easily transformed to host University of Pittsburgh football games and non-game day events. LED lights throughout the club will be programmable for varying event atmospheres, while high-density television monitors and an ultra HD LED video board inside the club make the environment dynamic.

In addition to the Champions Club, five private suites located at the goalpost crossbar height serve more than 100 seats total and 1,536 new main concourse general seats further expand capacity and create new seating neighborhoods.
