Populous and Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment Debut Phase Three of Barclays Center Transformation
Debuting ahead of the Brooklyn Net’s 2026–27 NBA season, phase three of a multi-year transformation of Barclays Center introduces a reimagined Main Atrium, a redesigned event-level club, a new American Express® Card Member Entrance and Amex Lounge™, eligible for Platinum Card® and Centurion® Members and significant art and technology enhancements.
“Our phase three updates demonstrate what becomes possible when an arena renovation is guided by a long-term vision rather than a series of individual projects,” said Adam Stover, Senior Principal at Populous. “Each space offers a distinct experience, but together they create a more intuitive, connected and distinctly Brooklyn journey.”
The transformation begins in the redesigned Main Atrium with an immersive arrival experience which includes a sweeping 180-degree LED screen. The entry is crowned by WAVE, a site-specific art installation suspended from the ceiling and fully interwoven with the architecture of the atrium. The piece welcomes guests and comprises 550 bespoke acrylic LED sculptural screens shaped into a wave-like form.
A reimagined 9,000-square-foot hospitality destination was also debuted and inspired by the layered evolution of Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood and Barclays Center’s tradition of celebrating the borough through thoughtfully designed spaces. Steel trusses span the high ceilings, while brick and concrete finishes reference Dumbo’s industrial character. Interactive dining places culinary experiences at the center of the club while a 93-foot LED screen and views into the play tunnel keep guests connected to the game.
Along Flatbush Avenue, the new American Express® Card Member Entrance provides direct access to the main concourse and suite level through a grand feature staircase. An adjacent VIP entrance creates a dedicated route to the suite level and Gallagher Terrace. The new Amex Lounge™, eligible for Platinum Card® and Centurion® Members, offers a contrasting expression of Brooklyn hospitality. The Brookyln art-forward space combines comfortable seating with panoramic views of Flatbush Avenue and the WAVE installation below.
“At Barclays Center, we are shaping the future of arena hospitality. From street to seat, our focus is on making every moment feel intentional and memorable,” said Shanon Ferguson, Chief Hospitality Officer, Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment. “Our investments create more elevated and connected journeys, while continuing to evolve Barclays Center as a destination influenced by the energy, creativity and character of Brooklyn.”
The latest phase is part of a long-term master plan developed to consider Barclays Center holistically—from the way guests arrive and move through the building to where they gather, dine and connect with an event. Each environment has its own Brooklyn identity and purpose, while together creating a more seamless experience from street to seat.
