Populous Completes Design Feasibility Study for Nikos Galis Olympic Indoor Hall
Originally constructed in 1994 to host events at the 2004 Summer Olympics, the Nikos Galis Olympic Indoor Hall of O.A.C.A. is Greece’s largest indoor arena. Recognizing the venue’s untapped potential, the project sought to explore comprehensive renovation options that would leverage the entire site, including a spacious training hall and various activation areas.
Populous Consulting undertook thorough market research, examining local and international benchmarks and focusing on user experience. This analysis enabled the team to propose a dynamic and diverse year-round events program. The envisioned schedule includes a wide array of events spanning sports, culture, entertainment and community activities, ensuring the arena remains active 365 days a year.
In addition to the events program, the feasibility study introduced innovative hospitality design concepts. These state-of-the-art spaces are designed by the Populous Brand Activation team to be flexible and multifunctional, enhancing the overall user experience and accommodating a variety of events seamlessly.
The potential commercial uplift of the renovated venue was a key focus of the study. Populous Consulting developed a business plan highlighting opportunities for increased revenues. The plan emphasizes how the proposed design upgrades and event schedule can drive significant commercial benefits, aligning with White Veil’s ambitious vision for the arena.
