Replacing the aging Herb Young Community Center, the new facility aims to become a community gathering space, offering a range of amenities to bring residents together. Planned features include a 70,000-square-foot multi-generational community center with fitness, recreation and senior-focused spaces, as well as an esports center with gaming stations and streaming facilities.

The project also includes an 80,000-square-foot sports center equipped with eight high school-sized courts designed to support basketball, volleyball, pickleball and other indoor sports. This space will accommodate local recreation as well as youth and amateur tournaments, making it a regional destination for sports enthusiasts. Additional amenities include a catering kitchen, adventure walking track, multi-use classrooms, fitness areas and public art installations.

The Center aligns with Cary’s vision of transforming the South Hills district into a dynamic mixed-use area, with the community center serving as a key focal point.
