Orange County Convention Center Expansion

Populous was engaged in 2019 to complete two Campus Master Plan projects called Phase 5A and Phase 5B. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was suspended in 2020. In 2023, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve funding for Phase 5A of the project.

Phase 5A —the $560 million completion of the North-South Building — consists of the Convention Way Grand Concourse, which will include an additional 60,000 square feet of meeting space and an 80,000-square-foot ballroom, along with a new entry to the North-South Building along Convention Way.

After receiving approval, Phase 5B would add 200,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space to the building. It will also create connectivity between the North and South Concourses. Once complete, the overall project will create a total of 1.15 million square feet of exhibit space in the North-South Building.
