Ipswich Town FC North Stand

Ipswich, England, United Kingdom

In April 2001, Ipswich Borough Council approved the planning submission for the redevelopment of the North Stand at Ipswich Town Football Club. Populous designed the £9 million scheme at Portman Road which will provide the Club with much improved facilities. Ipswich Town Football Club, formed as an amateur club in 1878, had soared through the divisions to reach the top half of the Premier League and recognized the need to provide greater variety and safer, more comfortable accommodation for its fans.

The previous covered North Stand provided a single tier of seating with a capacity of approximately 3,400. The new stand is two-tiered and incorporates seating for nearly 7,000 spectators as well as a Club megastore and bar areas. Unlike the old facility, it is set parallel to the pitch to better the match experience.
