Populous Named Finalist for Lead Designer of New Kansas City Chiefs Stadium

The new fixed‑roof stadium is planned as part of a $3 billion public‑private development in Wyandotte County, Kansas. According to State of Kansas estimates, the project is expected to create more than 20,000 jobs and generate $4.4 billion in economic impact during construction. When completed, the broader mixed‑use development featuring sports, entertainment, dining, shopping, offices and hotel and residential components is projected to support 3,500 jobs and deliver more than $1 billion in annual economic impact.

The stadium is scheduled to open at the start of the 2031 NFL season, marking a transformational milestone for both Chiefs and the region.
Populous will continue collaborating with the Chiefs organization as the selection process moves forward, contributing design expertise and innovative concepts that celebrate the team’s legacy and future ambitions.
