Populous-Designed G4 Studios Named Gold Winner, Best New Headquarters by Los Angeles Business Journal

Populous-designed G4 Studios, the new headquarters for Comcast Spectacor’s G4 digital and television network, has been named the Gold Winner for Best New Headquarters in the Commercial Real Estate Symposium & Awards from the Los Angeles Business Journal. The space boasts an aesthetic that blends a 24/7 broadcast studio, multiverse-ready collaborative workplace, and professional gaming environment for an industry-defining new building type.

The headquarters was a design-led design build project produced by Populous and Shawmut Design and Construction. An adaptive reuse of a historic television studio, G4 Studios is a modern-day example of reinventing existing infrastructure for its highest and best use. The first-of-its-kind facility houses workplace environments, broadcast production facilities, and esports training and gaming spaces. The studio has a distinct identity and is playing a leading role in the evolution of the G4 brand.

An ambitious renovation timeline, beginning in April 2020 and opening in October 2021, coupled with G4’s unique brand identity made this an ideal project for Populous Design Build. Through this delivery method, Populous contracted directly with Comcast as the design-builder and led the design and construction team, facilitating team collaboration and project success. Populous ignited its long-time partnership with Shawmut, subcontracting with the firm as the build partner.
