Soulaf Aburas

Soulaf Aburas is an interdisciplinary architect and researcher with over a decade of expertise in aviation, multifamily, mixed-use and applied research. With a passion for bridging the gap between applied research and robotics in AEC, Soulaf delivers design that blends the principles of human experience, neuroscience and digital fabrication. She has performed lead roles in award-winning projects across the globe, rethinking the future of aviation as an aggregation of hubs. This rethinking has led to her recent work on façade design through innovative, cost-effective techniques in 3D printing and artisan mark making techniques in concrete. She most recently co-founded and leads the Applied R&D group at Populous, which is investigating the agenda of humanizing digital fabrication within the AEC industry.
Alongside her accomplishments in architecture and design, her academic work has garnered multiple research grants in Robotic Fabrication as well as publication in journals, magazines and websites. She has been exhibited in France, Dubai, London and Copenhagen and presented at global conferences such as TedxLAU, Boston Technology Center and the Emirates.
An advocate for forward-thinking design, Aburas actively engages in knowledge sharing to raise awareness about applied research in digital fabrication in the AEC industry.
