Todd Voth

Senior Principal, Founder / Kansas City

Todd Voth has designed facilities that have improved the lives of millions of people while elevating the architectural profession through strategic practice building, thoughtful mentorship and community service.

Each year, more than 6 million people visit convention centers that Todd helped design and deliver. A thought leader and change driver, Todd has transformed the design language used for convention centers, which in turn impacted the entire industry and the destination-cities convention centers serve. This new model drastically elevated the guest experience on an international scale, while contributing to the health of cities through design.

Todd joined Populous to establish the firm’s convention center practice, resulting in its evolution into the top convention center planning and design firm in the world. Todd is known for introducing and communicating a paradigm shift that resulted in a new standard for convention center design worldwide, which includes inherent flexibility to accommodate a variety of formats, connections that encourage community exploration, hyperefficiencies that maximize budgets and inspirational design that is uniquely of the place.

In addition to leading the design of world-class projects, Todd served as the first chair of the global board of directors in 2009 when the firm became Populous. Todd has methodically built and nurtured teams of professionals to develop the next generation of public assembly facilities, equipping young practitioners with the spirit and innovation required to transform the built world into a better place. This inspiriting spirit and mentorship has helped Populous maintain its standing as the world’s largest planning and design firm dedicated to public assembly venues.

As an industry leader and trusted advisor in convention center design, Todd has authored numerous articles and presented at various events, such as IAAM, ICCC, WCVM, IEDC, PCMA, Imagine That and UFI Conferences. Todd was selected as one of 36 architects nationally to launch the AIA Young Architects Forum.
