Alex Ogata

Principal, Studio Director / Kansas City

Alex Ogata is a creative, collaborative and determined leader. As studio director, he leads a small interdisciplinary team of designers that focus on conceptual design, research and thought leadership, constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation. Averaging one hundred projects per year, the studio team is a nimble, creative and focused group that collaborates with project teams across the firm from aviation to convention centers.

A native of Peru, Alex provides a global perspective on all projects. Passionate about sharing his expertise and experience with others, Alex has lectured at the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, Howard University and Stanford’s Center for Integrated Facilities.

He is committed to community, having served on the board of directors for the Kansas City and Missouri chapters of American Institute of Architects, the City of Kansas City Mayor’s Cabinet, the Free Enterprise Center at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Advisory Board and as chair for Kansas City Design Week. His inventive work has received grants and awards from the Fulbright Program, SOM Foundation, Benetton’s Communication & Research Centre and the Shinkenchiku Design Competition.
