New England Patriots New Balance Athletic Center

The partnership now extends to the New Balance Athletics Center, a 160,000-square-foot facility that serves as the new home for the Patriots’ performance and training. While the north end zone project transformed the fan’s arrival and gathering experience, the New Balance Athletics Center focuses on the daily environment where the team trains and prepares throughout the year.

Located southeast of Gillette Stadium, the Center also provides direct access to the practice fields.

The design process began by asking the people who would use the building most, the Patriots players themselves, what their day-to-day experience looked like. Interviews about their daily routines revealed a consistent pattern, internally described as “the player’s journey,” that began and ended with food and hydration.

To support this, the Center features an 11,000-square-foot dining hall with made-to-order meal stations that leads directly to the locker room. Here, more than 90 custom-built lockers with gear-drying technology provide every player on the offseason roster with a permanent space. 

Designed to maximize access to natural light, the adjacent 15,000-square-foot weight room features floor-to-ceiling windows. Next to the weight room, a hydrotherapy and recovery center includes hot and cold plunges and underwater treadmills to support rehabilitation. On the upper level, each position group has a dedicated meeting room connected to a 10,500-square-foot turf area that spans the width of an NFL field, allowing players to move seamlessly from meetings to on-field walk-throughs indoors.

From the first meal of the day to the final meeting, every space within the New Balance Athletics Center is designed around how Patriots players train, recover, and prepare. By bringing those moments together under one roof, the facility makes the “player’s journey” effortless.
