Mike Trice

Mike is a Senior Principal and a Director of the Populous EMEA board, working actively and leading teams across a range of building typologies.
Projects he has worked on include the Handball Arena for London 2012, upgrades to the O2 Arena, and designs for both Stadium MK in Milton Keynes and the proposed redevelopment of Casement Park in Belfast. He has also been prominent in Populous’ motor sports work across multiple locations.
Mike was the Populous lead for extensive work at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, including the South Stand Expansion and concept development and design for the UK’s first tunnel club experience in 2016. More recently he has led the new Etihad North Stand redevelopment, with an 8,000 bowl capacity increase, stand extension, club museum and retail, covered fan plaza and 400 key hotel.
Mike’s interest in the technical aspects of sports architecture has led him to research alternative methods of constructing spectator terracing. He is a regular consultant to the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (Green Guide), and works with the British and European committee on the standards for spectator facilities in stadia.
