BASE at Extraco Events Center

Waco, Texas, United States

As the new gateway to the Extraco Events Center, home of the Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo, the BASE (Business, Arts, Sports and Entertainment) allows for the fairground to be a year-round, multiuse destination. The $32 million facility was designed to bring more business and tourism to Waco with a wide range of activities including sports tournaments, concerts, meetings, trade shows and community events.

Situated next to the existing Extraco Coliseum, the BASE is the first built project from the Populous-designed 40-year master plan for the site. It offers visitors 52,000 square feet of open, multipurpose flexible exhibition space, featuring divisible walls that allow for personalized regional and traveling tournaments, weddings and other celebrations, private meetings and more.

The BASE merges beauty with functionality, utilizing materials durable enough for farm and equipment shows, but still warm enough for weddings and private events. It also boasts an outdoor front porch area, ideal for hosting a central, open concept food service area. The facility also has parking lots integrated with power, water and sewer to allow for farmer’s markets and other community and exhibition programs.
